Come meet our guests!
Japan Expo is welcoming close to 20 guests who’re coming to share their talent with you and leave you with great memories of meeting them! Read what follows to miss none of them!
Japan Expo’s guests offer you an overview of what Japanese pop culture can offer. Firstly, 4 Guests of Honor are coming all the way from Japan to meet you during daily autograph sessions, to talk about their jobs, works and projects at panels and masterclasses, or to show you their talent during drawbattles or concerts.
- Our Manga Guest of Honor, Izumi MATSUMOTO, is the manga artist of Kimagure Orange Road: if you’re feeling nostalgic, now is the time to meet the artist!
- As for our Anime Guest of Honor, we’re glad to welcome Akihiro KANAYAMA who’s worked as an animator in the most prestigious Japanese animation studios and on famous anime, among which Ashita no Joe, also known as Tomorrow’s Joe.
- We know you love video games and you will meet a famous chara-designer and art director who’s worked on the Street Fighter series: Daigo IKENO.
- Here comes music, but also still video games, with our Video Game Music Guest of Honor: Akira YAMAOKA has probably made some of you shiver with fear as he is the composer of the Silent Hill series music and sound design.
And we have more anime and manga guests for all of you who are anime and manga fans:
- Shinji ARAMAKI, the director of the recent Appleseed Alpha and Space Pirate Captain Harlock animation films.
- Gen UROBUCHI, the author of the light novel Fate/Zero and the scriptwriter of the anime Puella Magi Madoka Magica.
- Felipe SMITH, a manga artist, author of Peepo Choo, and since then has worked on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles animated TV series and now as the writer of monthly All-New Ghost Rider.
Japan is hosting its first cosplay guest and first dance guest! The famous and most talented cosplayer Amie LYNN will be showing her best costumes and revealing some of her secrets to the attendees. She will also be part of Saturday’s and Sunday’s masquerades.
As for the professional dancer Hero Hiroka, she has been part of many music videos by famous artists and her crew has won America's Best Dance Crew show. Her dancing style and choreographies will take your breath away and will even teach you a few steps during a workshop.
Let’s end with J-music! Between Mayuko’s sweet voice, ILU GRACE’s R&B groovy style, akai SKY’s J-rock, A for-Real’s hard pop and DJ Kage’s anime tunes to transform Japan Expo into a dancefloor at night on the first 2 days! If you’re curious to discover new music artists, that’s the place for you!
All the guests will be giving autograph sessions on most days (all in first come first served on Friday).
