Japanese culture is the basic foundation of Japan Expo! We are here to share a few points about Japanese culture to you!

Dance is important because it helps to bring the community together, and because it's fun and cheerful trait, it can make anyone smile! Awakko Ren and Sakura Ren are two dance groups who is going to Japan Expo to share the joy of dancing through awa-odoriSF Okinawa Kenji Kai is an Okinawan dance group bringing their exciting culture of wonderful dances and amazing drums! Their traditional arts are unique and not to be missed.

 
 

There are many forms of recreation that are very popular with all ages today.

Take Age means kite flying battles in Japan. But, flying the kite itself is just as wonderful and exciting. The traditional kite and festival will be introduced to you where you can learn the fun and excitement with the International Association of Tako AgeKendama USA enjoys the fun and challenging experience that anyone can have when playing with a Kendama. A kendama is a Japanese wooden skill toy. Kendama USA will teach you the basics of Kendama, as well as show you some professional Kendama tricks. Go is one of the oldest and challenging game in the world. You will be able to learn the game of GO with the Bay Area Go Players Association. 

The members of Shoko Hikage's Koto Class will introduce to you the traditional melody that is born from koto, a Japanese Zither. Their elegant and soothing style of playing will mesmerize all those who join them in their performance. Shamisen is an fascinating three-stringed lute that brings out an amazing sound easily capturing the listeners. Bachido will be performing with the shamisen and will be at their booth if you want to learn more about the instrument. Standford Taiko will bring to you the liveliness of the taiko drums, that you will never forget.
